The Old Ingram Historical Marker marks the original 1879 townsite founded by Reverend J.C.W. Ingram, which thrived for fifty years before highway construction shifted the town's focus.
Erected in 1983 by the Texas Historical Commission, the Old Ingram Historical Marker commemorates the early settlement of this area prior to the Civil War. In 1879, Reverend J.C.W. Ingram, a Church of Christ minister from California, purchased land here from pioneer Abner McWhorter Morriss. Ingram established a general store and post office, sparking the growth of a community that served as a bustling commercial hub for half a century.
The marker is located on the south side of Old Ingram Loop, just west of Indian Creek Road in Ingram, Texas.
